Tija Richardson bagged a brace as Swansea City Ladies convincingly defeated Aberystwyth Town on their travels to remain unbeaten with only two games of the league campaign remaining.

The defending Welsh Premier Women's League champions were in full command from kick-off and went into the break with a healthy two-goal lead after strikes from Richardson and Stacey John-Davis.

In the second half, the dominance continued and the Swans added a further three goals as Jess Williams and Emma Beynon found the back of the net, with Richardson also adding her second of the afternoon.

Richardson broke the deadlock as she turned home Katy Hosford’s corner with a powerful header into the top-right corner.

Aber goalkeeper Ffion Ashman got the home side out of a difficult situation as she tipped Beynon’s shot over the crossbar from the middle of the box.

But the lead was doubled just before the interval as Hosford’s low cross got the slightest touch from John-Davis to find the far corner.

The Swans were comfortably in charge and continued to pressure Aber’s goal as Beynon’s early cross into the penalty area caused a moment of panic, but the home side were able to clear their lines.

The three points were safely sealed with just over an hour played as Hosford’s cross into the box allowed Williams to smash home a half-volley from close-range.

Swansea were awarded a penalty for a handball against Aber captain Caroline Cooper; Beynon stepped up and buried it from the spot despite Ashman getting a strong hand to the ball.

The Swans were definitely in the mood for more and looked to increase their lead as Hosford forced Ashman to parry her shot from distance away to safety.

But it was high fives all round as Richardson bagged herself a brace as she headed Chloe Chivers’ free-kick into the back of the net five minutes from full time.
