Swansea City Under-23s kept their first clean sheet in four attempts after holding in-form Coventry to a goalless draw at the Alan Higgs Centre.

The young Swans have now suffered just one defeat in their last seven Professional Development League South clashes.

However, Kris O'Leary's side were disappointed not to take maximum points after seeing a number of opportunities go begging.

Aiming to build on their 1-1 draw with Crewe Alexandra last time out, the under-23s made a strong start in the Midlands.

Ryan Bevan dragged a low free-kick narrowly wide, while one of the trialists struck the post with a long-range effort.

The same trialist was then denied by Jordon Thompson, who cleared off the line as the Swans sought the opening goal.

Ali Al-Hamadi also went close on a couple of occasions; seeing a shot blocked by Jay McGrath, before Coventry keeper Tom Billson pushed away a drilled effort.

Coventry, who had won four of their previous five heading into this contest, also had chances to break the deadlock after the interval.

Steven Benda came to the Swans’ rescue with a brilliant double-save to deny Wesley Jobello, while Brandon Cooper headed over from close range at the other end.

Substitute Jordan Young also tested Benda with a couple of attempts that sandwiched Michael Murphy’s low drive, which Billson did well to get down to.

But in the end, the two sides were forced to settle for a share of the spoils.
